April 29,1975 (resonance), May 3 - 21 1995. Installation for: "Perfection is an Accident," MFA Thesis Exhibition, University Art Museum, University of California at Santa Barbara, California. Brown packing tape, found objects, dry-wall boards. Variable dimensions. Room dimension: 21'W x 26'L.

This installation depicts a psychological landscape stemming from memories of the evacuation out of Sai Gon, Viet Nam. The space represents a desert/riverbed, both which simultaneously support and defeat the individual. The work addresses the dilemma of memory: crucial and inescapable. Metaphors of moving/evacuation are referenced with packing tape. Abandonment, loss, and destruction are central themes of the installation. The constant vacillation of the project speaks of the irreconcilable legacy which seats the Viet Nam War in an amorphous place between conceptual and emotional resolution.
